Candidate Statement

Having worked as an actor on hundreds of productions since 2011 under many of our contracts, I realize that we have to know our rights, and fight for them so that we are not taken advantage of. I’m personally concerned with Background Actors and Stand-Ins, bringing the work back to Los Angeles, the ability to qualify for Pension & Health, Seniors, accommodations for Disabled Performers, freedom from Sexual Harassment, Young Performers, and keeping ALL actors safe on set.

Candidate Bio

It was on the set of ROMPER ROOM as a child in the local Jacksonville, FL market, where my dream to be an actor was born. Experiencing the magic through the eyes of a child, eyeing the lights, big cameras and crew, I felt safe, that I had found my happy place. Not knowing how I was going to get to Los Angeles, my path took many twists and turns which consisted of hard work, grit, determination and, a survival mentality.

I have a degree Multinational Business, crossed the Atlantic Ocean in a 60 ft. sailboat with 8 others and a dog, worked towards a Masters in International Relations then gave it up to study dance 3 hrs./day for 8 months. I worked as a Campaign Aide on a U.S. Senate Campaign, defeating the incumbent Senator. But finally, I landed in LA, borrowing $500 and knowing 2 people, quickly accepting taking the first job offer I could get, and found myself working the next 25 years inside the Studios to survive. I studied acting the whole time, knowing that one day I would find my way to be a working actor.

After a corporate layoff (7 months before qualifying for retirement benefits), I knew I could not return to the “corporate grind”, and became a Background Actor, which has morphed into countless opportunities to work among the greatest in the Business. I also work as a Stand-In, have been Cast Singer, and more, on Principal Theatrical and Commercial contracts.

In 2023 I received/shared the Blurry Award for Best Female Background Actor and another one for the category of Best Background Actor Ensemble. Since 2011 I have been one of the Administrators in a FB Background Artist group (4,000 members) dedicated to assisting members navigate the world of Background.

After 20+ years of struggle looking for answers, as a recent survivor of both Adrenal Cushing’s Syndrome and Parathyroid disease, I volunteer my time as a Patient Advocate, supporting and assisting others in finding their cure. I have been a dedicated Ashtanga yoga practitioner for 38 years, and love my hip-hop classes.
