Candidate Bio
Member since 1979. Worked mostly in the theatrical, new media , low budget, and commercial contracts. Been serving on the LA Local Sag Conservatory since 2019, 3 subcommittees and Tributes. Proud to teach union friends 8-week Scene Study often at the Conservatory now. The industry has gone through seismic shifts in the last 25 years. We are ever resilient, but AI is robbing us of our intellectual property. Self tape is isolating us both from the casting community and peer support. Still fighting against self-tape labor exploitation, and for the rights of actors’ work to be seen from beginning to end.
Caryn began her career in NYC after getting and MFA in Acting: 3 Broadway shows, Off Broadway, 2 national tours, many Sag commercials, and many Many great regional theaters in amazing plays. Recurred in 3 TV series, many guest spots and never gave up. Love teaching younger actors and coaching them and my contemporaries. Grateful to be one of 10% of the current membership to have a pension, and must give back and fight for more to qualify. Just played my first ghastly murderer in a film and loved it.
