Jodi Dennithorne

Candidate: Convention Delegate

Candidate Bio

Jodi has been a proud SAG-AFTRA member since 2009 and an SEIU1000 member since 2018. As a Union Steward and District Bargaining Unit Representative for Bargaining Unit 20, she has gone head-to-head with CalHR and State departments to demand better pay, enforce labor rights, and ensure equitable treatment for ASL Interpreters and other state workers. Her advocacy focuses on fighting wage disparities, improving working conditions, and holding management accountable—whether at the bargaining table or in day-to-day enforcement of contracts.

She holds a Master’s degree from the VCU Brandcenter and began her career as an art director and writer in advertising. She later transitioned into working as an ASL Interpreter for the State of California, where she saw firsthand the inequities and challenges facing interpreters and other state workers. That experience fueled her commitment to organize, advocate, and fight for fair treatment. With a career rooted in both creative strategy and public service, Jodi brings the skills of a communicator, problem-solver, and negotiator to her union work. As a delegate, she is committed to strengthening contracts, protecting members from emerging industry threats such as AI exploitation, and fostering a culture of transparency and solidarity within the union.
