Sarah Ann Masse

Candidate: Local Board, Convention Delegate

Candidate Statement

As a proud SAG-AFTRA member since 2012, and serving on committees consistently since 2019, I have prioritized safety, accessibility, inclusion, and equity for all members - especially our most vulnerable populations. Through committee work, convention, W&Ws, and LA Local Board Service, I've been directly involved in ensuring better contract protections against sexual violence, better accessibility for our disabled members, and image protection for all. As a queer, disabled, woman who is a survivor myself these will continue to be my top priorities. I am honored to serve and humbly request your vote so I can continue. @SarahAnnMasse

Candidate Bio

Sarah is an LA-based, bisexual, and invisibly disabled actor, writer, singer, producer, filmmaker, and comedian who was one of the first people to come forward about Weinstein. Since facing career retaliation due to speaking up about abuse, she launched ‘Hire Survivors Hollywood‘ – a non profit organization that works to end retaliation against survivors of sexual violence within the entertainment industry. Her tireless work in the field of sexual violence advocacy have garnered her three major awards: 2025 Edith Surgan Victim Activist Award; 2023 Shattering the Silence Award; 2023 Global Impact Award - and her work within SAG-AFTRA has helped to lead the charge for better protections against sexual violence, the inclusion of Intimacy Coordinators within the union, improved accessibility for disabled members, and so much more.

As an actor, Sarah is best-known for playing Pulitzer Prize winning NY Times Journalist Emily Steel in Universal Pictures’ ‘She Said’, a role for which she was Academy Award eligible and won several awards. “She Said” stars Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan and is directed by EMMY Winner Maria Schrader. Sarah won an AFI Award for being part of the creative ensemble of ‘She Said’ – winning ‘Movie of the Year’ for their “contribution to America’s cultural legacy” – and an AARP Movies for Grownups Award for ‘Best Ensemble’ for ‘She Said’. She can also currently be seen as Sheila in the new series ‘Blue Ridge’ starring Johnathan Schaech, Sarah Lancaster, and A Martinez.

Sarah is also an award-winning screenwriter and filmmaker, an accomplished comedian, and a musical theater performer who is currently workshopping the new Diane Warren musical "The Right Girl".
